The Best of Namibia North
Get the best of Namibia North in 12 days – North and a bit of the Namib Desert.
Out of the city and right into the Namibian savannas to the North West of the capital. South East of the Erongo Mountains is where the first night is spent. A visit to the Bushman village is definitely on the menu.
The “Great White Place” (Etosha National Park) is next. Prepare yourself to see it all. As one of the most important parks in Southern Africa, Etosha never disappoints.
Opuwo, capital of Kaokoland, allow for insight into the lives of the Himba tribe. Northbound and the sudden appearance of the sub-tropical climate on the banks of the Kunene welcomes you. Two lazy days in the hospitality of your lodge and you will depart well rested.
A relatively short drive to the Sesfontein area guide the traveller through typical Mopani bush land. Get close and personal with the Desert Adapted Elephants of the Hoanib River close to Sesfontein.
Here comes the Namib Desert
Cape Cross hosts one of Namibia’s biggest Cape Fur Seal colonies. It is also the place where the first European pioneers set foot on land in Namibia.
We include Swakopmund in this tour due to its excellent hospitality. Enjoy special moments in one of the many restaurants in the town or go on a boat cruise in Walvis Bay. Visit the Moon Landscape just outside Swakopmund or go on a “Living Desert” tour to get close and personal with the Namib Desert animals.
Visits to the Namib Desert reveal a total different picture than what meets the eye. Animals and plants adapted to these harsh conditions over millions of years. Many species of antelope, insects and reptiles are residents of the Namib Desert. Sossusvlei and Sesriem are two of the most visited places in Namibia and for very good reasons. The massive dunes near Sossusvlei are believed to be some of the highest on the planet. A kaleidoscope of light plays itself out between the dunes early in the morning and late afternoon.
On your way back to Windhoek, take in the awesome beauty of the Spreetshoogte Pass rising high above the Desert.
