The Namib Desert
Landscapes, animals, ghost towns, desert restaurants in the middle of nowhere, fun & lots of sunshine – most probably the best-known desert on the planet for many good reasons.
The massive dunes at Sossusvlei hosts a diverse insect population, complete with their predators and other members of the food chain. Don’t forget to pay a visit to Sesriem Canyon and Dead Vlei. This region is home to the Namib Naukluft National Park, one of the biggest in Africa. Mammals include a wide range of antelope, leopard and Zebra.
The massive Kalahari stretches over 3 countries in mainly Southern Africa which include Namibia, South Africa and Botswana (known as the Kgalagadi in Botswana).
A healthy population of antelope such as Eland, Oryx, Springbok, Hartebeest, Kudu, Steenbok and Duiker, attracts a range of predators of which the Kalahari Lion is the most documented. Other predators include Leopard, Cheetah, Wild Dog, Spotted & Brown Hyena and Jackal.
And then of course the birds: Ostrich is number one on the list. Secretary birds, martial eagle, the giant eagle owl, barn owl, falcons, goshawks, kestrels and kites all feast on the abundant rodent and insect populations.
The Okavango Delta
The Delta is home to countless species of wildlife, some of which are endangered. These species include catfish, giraffes, baboons, elephants, hyenas, large cat species, antelopes, rhinoceroses, buffalo, tigerfish and lechwe.
The Desert and Delta Tour visits the Eastern part of the Okavango Panhandle – all of the Delta with less tourists.
The Caprivi is well known for large herds of migrating elephant. A boat ride on the Kwando River in Eastern Caprivi is an experience of a lifetime – guaranteed!!
